Mr. Uday Gupta graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Calcutta with 1st class honours. He did his post graduation from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras where he was a recipient of Merit Award.

He was appointed as the CEO of Steel Business in 2008 in Musco. In 2011 he took over as the Managing Director of Musco, now Mahindra Sanyo Special Steel. He attended the Mahindra Universe Course at Harvard Business School in 2011.

He was the Executive Director in First Aluminium Nigeria PLC (erstwhile Alcan, Nigeria), a company listed in the Nigeria Stock Exchange and part of the Inlaks Group of Companies. He was responsible for the aluminium rolling and coil coating business of the group for 10 years.

Mr. Uday Gupta had a long association of over 16 years with Indian Aluminium Co Ltd, INDAL (Alcan, India) in various facets of manufacturing – maintenance, projects and overall operation. During his tenure in INDAL, he was deputed for the Business Management course at Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
