Madelyn Antoncic is Managing Partner of Global A.I. Corp. (GAI) and CEO of Global Algorithmic Institute (G-AI.org). GAI is a Big Data and Artificial Intelligence company that provides quantitative research, ESG and SDG data-driven signals and alternative data for institutional clients, companies and governments. Global-AI.org is a not-for-profit think tank within GAI with a mission of conducting scientific research to develop innovative quantitative models and tools and alternative data that increase the stability of the global financial markets and mitigate systemic risk. Global-AI.org uses Big Data to measure progress toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). G-AI.org has been awarded a 10-year mandate for a strategic collaboration with the UN and several of its agencies promoting harmonization of corporate sustainability reporting through Big Data and AI technology, and providing data on corporate and country level sustainability reporting.

Prior to joining Global AI in the fall of 2019, Dr. Antoncic was the Chief Executive Officer of The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), where she oversaw a team charged with developing and maintaining sustainability reporting standards and was responsible for all aspects of the operation and strategic direction of the organization. Dr. Antoncic is a former Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank where, in addition to her financial responsibilities, she oversaw several technical assistance and capacity building programs working with developing and emerging economies. During her tenure at the World Bank, her financial responsibilities included overseeing the management of $145 billion in assets for the World Bank and its affiliates, over 700 trust funds and over 55 other official-sector institutions; the $22 billion World Bank Group’s (WBG) pension; the WB’s $135 billion derivatives portfolio; its $45 billion annual financing program; its $40 billion equity capital; and over $30 billion in daily cash payments and disbursements.

Among many initiatives which Dr. Antoncic led was financial innovation, including implementing catastrophic risk structures and a new World Bank Capital-at-Risk Note program to help countries mitigate and transfer climate-related catastrophic risk as well as to provide funding for responding to pandemics such as Ebola. Under her leadership, the World Bank completed the largest weather and energy derivative transaction the market has ever seen ($450 million) to help a member country highly dependent on hydropower hedge against droughts and high energy prices.

Dr. Antoncic has held leadership roles spanning global markets for more than 30 years. She began her career as an economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and held senior roles at Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, Lehman Brothers and following the World Bank she spent two years at Principal Global Investors, a global asset management company, as Executive Director and a member of the Operating Committee.

She is a frequent speaker on topics of sustainability and systemic risk at high-level public and private sector for across the globe, including speaking at the UN General Assembly SDG Business Forum Plenary and at UNCTAD ISARs. She has published on a broad range of topics including on climate-induced catastrophic risk, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Risk Management in Financial Institutions.

She is recipient of numerous awards including the Fulbright Scholars Award for International Cooperation; National Partnership for Women and Families Award for leadership; Risk Manager of the Year Award from Risk; named among the 100 Most Influential People in Finance by Treasury and Risk Management. Dr.Antoncic, a member of the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medicine, and is a member of the Board of Directors for S&P Global Ratings and Fin Tech Acquisition Corps III, and Fin Tech Acquisition Corp IV. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics with a minor in Finance from the New York University Stern School, was an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Doctoral Fellow and has taught at Stern’s graduate and undergraduate schools.
