Abby leads in the development and implementation of the Bank’s sustainability plans and initiatives, including the certification of identified branches to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standards. Spearheading the bank wide LEED initiatives, with the certification of the Tacloban Branch – first Bank Branch in the Philippines with LEED-Retail Commercial Interior Gold Certification and the only LEED certified project in Eastern Visayas region AND the Olongapo Branch – first Bank Branch in the Philippines with a LEED-Retail Commercial Interior Platinum Certification.
She is also responsible for promoting and expanding the scope of the Bank’s sustainability efforts to internal units and external parties. To achieve this, she works closely with the Bank’s Sustainability Advisory Council, Technical Working Group, and multiple outsource service providers. Also, collaborating with other organization’s environmental programs, such as Haribon Foundation Adopt a Forest Campaign and Globe Telecom’s Project 1 Phone e-waste recycling program.
Furthermore, Abby manages the publication of the Bank’s annual sustainability report, ensuring that it is aligned with international standards and best practices in corporate reporting. Published UnionBank’s 2015 first Sustainability Report (SR) aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative G4 Guidelines and recently launched the Bank’s 2016 first standalone SR entitled “Driven by a Higher Purpose”, which is based on the latest version of sustainability reporting guidelines, The GRI Standards – making UnionBank as the first financial institution in the Philippines to comply.
