SDGs and Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards

In 2017 we aligned the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to identify the goals and targets where the Awards can make direct contribution.

The Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards support SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Target 12.6 which states: Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle. The SDG indicator for this target very straight forward: Number of companies publishing sustainability reports.

The Awards also support the following SDGs: SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

The main goal of the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards is to promote sustainability reporting by honouring those organisations which have demonstrated vision, leadership and excellence in sustainability reporting.

The Awards have created an influential platform for bench marking, sharing best practices, and peer learning by bringing together sustainability reporting leaders.

In 2017 we also introduced a new award category ‘Asia’s Best Report on the SDGs’. We firmly believe that this new category will inspire companies to integrate SDGs in their sustainability reports and aim for excellence.

We at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards secretariat extend our full support to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards directly contribute to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Target 12.6 which states: Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.

The SDG indicator for Target 12.6 is very straight forward: Number of companies publishing sustainability reports.

The foremost goal of the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards is to promote sustainability reporting. A snapshot of how the Awards categories support the SDGs is presented below.
