Asia Integrated Reporting Awards 2018

Taiwan’s Sinyi Realty clinches Asia’s Report of the Year award!

Singapore: Sinyi Realty Inc., a Taiwan-based real estate brokerage and agent sale services company, emerged as the top winner at the 4th Asia Integrated Reporting Awards (AIRA) just concluded in Singapore. Sinyi won five awards, the highest this year, including the most coveted Asia’s Report of the Year honour.

Taiwan’s Taishin Holdings, Singapore’s Singtel and City Developments Limited, Japan’s Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co, Thailand’s Bangchak Corporation and Charoen Pokphand Group and India’s Mahindra and Mahindra were among the companies which won more than one award.

In total, 25 companies from 11 countries representing a wide array of sectors won the awards in 17 categories. A record 82 companies from 14 countries had made it to the final round of the 2018 Asia Integrated Reporting Awards.

Nearly 100 business leaders from 15 countries turned up at the exclusive awards ceremony hosted by the British High Commissioner in Singapore H.E. Scott Wightman. The event was attended by dignitaries from diverse fields including academia, non-profit, embassies, trade associations and advocacy organisations.

The awards were presented by the Guest of Honour Jessica Cheam, managing editor of Eco-Business, The British High Commissioner H.E. Scott Wightman and special guests Dr Lawrence Loh, director of Corporate Governance, Institutions and Organisations (CGIO) at NUS Business School and Dr Wu Huijuan, Assistant Director, Singapore Institute of International Affairs.

Speaking at the event, Rajesh Chhabara, managing director at CSRWorks International and the creator of the Awards said: “Sustainability reporting has become an important tool for investors and stakeholders to assess a company’s full value. High quality reporting and disclosure allows organisations to communicate how they manage their economic, environmental, social and governance impacts, risks and opportunities to create value in the short, medium and long term”.

“AIRA is helping organisations to raise the bar in reporting and improving the quality of integrated information for stakeholders,” he added.

An independent judging panel decides the awards following rigorous criteria. The judges sifted through nearly 400 entries to select the winners. The judging process involved three rounds of screening and evaluations to identify the very best in each award category. Finally, comprehensive due diligence was carried out to assess finalists’ reputation among stakeholders, and the findings were considered to determine the winners.

CSRWorks International, a Singapore-based firm focussed on sustainability consulting, training and thought leadership, has created the non-profit Asia Integrated Reporting Awards to inspire Asian organisations to adopt sustainability reporting and integrated reporting.

The winners received a specially designed plaque framed with recycled wood. The winner of the top honours, Asia’s Report of the Year, won an exclusive golden plaque. All finalists received a merit certificate printed on FSC certified paper sourced from sustainable forests. Also, the winners and the finalists will be authorised to use the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards logo for branding purpose.
